My local disk E simply disappeared while my computer was on. How do I find it? How do I restore it? Or did it die?!

It doesn't appear in the Disk Management. I have 2 internal drives, C and E. D is the DVD drive. I keep the programs on C and use E for storage.

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate.

I agree sounds like a bad cable or a lose one to me.

Or could be the power supple who knows. These kinda issues are kinda hard to determine a lot.

I had the same problem a while back with my secondary drive going off and on i think it was my ata drive. And replaced the cable and now it is working fine.Normally with drives if well taken care of like mine yours can last up to 10 + years or more.I still have a 320 gig that is 14 years old and still runs like new.

First step, open up your case, and make sure the SATA (likely - might be IDE if older) cable connecting the drive to the MoBo and the power cable connecting the PSU to the HDD are both solidly connected. Sometimes, the connection is shaky, and particularly if you moved your computer or took off the side panel recently, it could have moved a bit and caused this problem.

If you're CERTAIN this has nothing to do with the cables, then we can move on...
