i am looking to upgrade my dinosaur of a gaming pc and i am strapped for cash big time mainly bc of my wife lol.. i am looking at a combo kit of 8gb of corsair vengeance ram and a AMD FX-6300 Vishera 6-Core 3.5GHz. i was wondering if this CPU is going to be decent enough if i put this into a new mobo along with that 8gb of ram and my old dog of a GPU which is a R7 250. i was wondering if this might be able to atleast run lets say World of Warcraft Mist of Pandaria and maybe World of Warcraft Warlords of Draenor when it comes out.. Like i said im strapped for cash i know intels are better for gaming and AMD are cheaper and thats what im looking at a cheap but reliable CPU and being this is combod with ram and a mobo for 250 im hoping this might be a great buy for gaming for world of warcraft and payday 2.

Looking at the minimum and recommended specs, you will be able to play those versions well. BTW...what are you upgrading from?

Good choices, the FX 6300 is a very solid CPU that will last you for a long time, it's good at that price range.
RAM wise, RAM doesn't really matter, speed makes next to no difference, so you can just go with any DDR3 2x4GB (8GB total) 1600MHZ RAM, anything over 1600MHZ is just wasting your money for gaming.
The R7 250 isn't very old, it's just a low end card, but it should still run WOW quite well. When you have the cash, upgrade to an R7 260x or something similar.

Give us your full specs so we know if your PC can support the upgrades.

I don't play WoW, but I do play a lot of shooters. The FX6300 is a solid CPU. In most newer games that take advantage of more than 2 cores, its generally as fast as a newer I3 or older I5. If its a game that isn't heavily threaded (3 cores or less), the Intel CPUs will destroy any CPU from AMD.

sad to say i am upgrading from an old dual core pentium d cpu 4gb of ram and an old gigabyte mobo i had a house fire 3 years ago and lost my good computer and now im slowly getting built back up to building a gaming computer but this comp im on cant handle wow or any games anymore. and i tried to put a new cpu in it which is the current one and then i put in an R7 240 GPU to see if that would help but it didnt and people were saying if i were to get the combo kit i listed and drop my R7 240 GPU in there then i should be able to go back to running WoW on medium to high settings and as well as playing BF3 and maybe BF4 along with Call of Duty Ghosts and then ofcourse my Payday 2. but mainly i am looking to see if this combo kit along with my R7 240 will be ok to run wow on with absolutely no issues until i can replace the GPU with maybe an R9 270x or something moderately newer. so any input on if the AMD fx-6300 Vishera 6core with the 8gb of ram and i believe the mobo that comes with the combo kit is a ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0 AM3+ AMD 970 + SB950 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS, it totals on newegg for just about 255$ plus about 13 in shipping so i was hoping this would be outstanding for atleast playing WoW Mist of Pandaria and then Warlords of Draenor when that comes out around december.

well thats the down side WoW only uses 2cores any way so thats why a lot of the WoW gamers use Intel but being im strapped for cash and i know there are AMD WoW players out there i was hoping that this type of cpu along with in the future lets say in a few months i drop an R9 270x in there with this cpu if it will still run like theres no issues barely to no lag at all and so fourth i dont plan on stressing it out or really putting a beating on it but just casual WoW Raiding in 25man and 20man when wod comes out but again WoW only uses 2cores

also i would be playing counter strike global offensive again and a few other shooters if it is deemed that this Combo Kit i have listed will be a decent buy for its money and give me great use and great results from it

i was also wondering about the AMD A8-5600K Trinity 3.6GHz just incase if i wanted to save a little more money i found this kit with that cpu 4gb of ram and a MSI FM2-A55M-E33 FM2 AMD A55 HDMI Micro ATX Motherboard, but i am still thinking on spending the extra 55 and getting the 6core and the extra 4gb of ram
unless this quad core will do roughly what that 6core will do

I would go with intel simply because they offer better performance per core than AMD does which will be crucial in the games you play.

Wouldn't recommend going the APU route, this is the best I can think of for you right now

- Z97 motherboard (you'll be set for broadwell with this motherboard) (will allow you to upgrade later down the line)

- Pentium G3258 and a Hyper 212evo air cooler (Unlocked, use this to overclock your CPU into the same core performance as an i5)

- 8GB RAM DDR3 1600Mhz

later down the line you can upgrade to a broadwell cpu when it is released or just purchase the new devils canyon 4690k i5 if you dont want to bother with the pentium

also upgrade your gpu asap

thats not a bad idea but right now i am only set on roughly about 250ish thats why i was looking into AMD currently and really the only 2 games i play is WoW and Payday 2 along with a little bit of minecraft when im bored with my friends to kill time.. so i mean while the cpu is cheap that you stated the ram would be over the area that id be able to work with hence why i was lookin at AMD currently until i could save up the cash to build a full out Intel Gaming Rig

actually Haider i take that back i found one on ebay with an MSI motherboard Z97 instead of the Asus z97 for the same price id be spending on the amd quad core thanks for your input and helping me out appreciate that and i can still use my R7 for a few more months until i can save the cash to drop a better Card in it.. in your eyes though how well does that CPU stand up if i were to try to play BF3 or CoD Ghost or go back to Black Ops II as well as WoW bc mainly im trying to look at and see if it will stay a live long enough for this CPU to be able to be used for atleast 6+ months without causing lag issues if i try to play on medium maybe even try high settings on it but most likely stay with medium settings if this cpu will be able to handle it

The Pentium K is actually stomping the hell out of the competition right now. its single core performance when overclocked with one of those z97 mobos is on par with i7 4790k's.. just youtube "Battlefield Pentium G3258" and you get a ton of those videos comparing the g3258 to the i7 and the pentium keeps up with the i7. personally I would go with the intel build and upgrade to a broadwell later in the future.. and I would dish out a bit of money for the asus z97 as it has better overclocking options
