The ducky zero mechanical keyboard should be well under 100 USD and is a great keyboard. Comes in every switch type 
I think it's a good idea as if you ever get a desktop you will already have a great keyboard.

I see you everywhere now! xD But yeah OP you should, its a big short term investment but pays off in the long run. Rather have 1 reliable keyboard than keep having to get the keys replaced/repaired because you cheaped out on one

And yeah, I'm addicted to these forums now, I have no idea why, it's just so satisfying being able to use my knowledge and experience to help others.
It's also fun trying to get third place in the amount of best answers for the month
