My holiday pictures seem to have randomly decided not to open with some folders too saying permissions denied - irregular and no pattern. Mostly old jpgs from some years ago. no corruption. seems the permissions have changed - but how and can I mass reconvert or open them? is there a program available?

Download the take ownership script from the following link, unzip and run it. It will add take ownership option to the right click menu in windows shell. Then go to the folder the files are in and either right click on the folder and select take ownership or select the files inside and do the same. That should solve any permissions issues.
