I have two hard drives. One with Windows 7 and several programs, like office installed. My second hard drive is botable with Windows XP and has several programs installed, like MS project and family tree maker, etc. I do not have original disks. I would like move the applications from XP to run under windows but it appears from other forums and info on web that this is not possible. Is there a way I can run the XP applications where they reside on the second drive from within Windows 7. Virtual XP doesn't appear to be the answer since it required reinstalling of programs. Are there other alternative, such as merging the drive in some manner. Any advice or guidance appreciated.

Sorry, but no.
Some few applications can possibly be copied elsewhere and used, but the majority need to actually be installed in a new OS (your Win 7)

When you install an application it makes dozens, or hundreds, of entries in the registry and elsewhere. Your Win 7 install knows nothing about the applications that exist in your XP install.

You can't just 'move' them.

sometimes you can get away with some programs but not most. Like MS Project will not run. The reason being because there must be files on the OS drive that are needed and also registry settings as well. There are programs out there like PC Mover but i know for fact things like Office, Quickbooks, Quicken, ect won't move over.
