I am trying to get an open NAT type on my ps3, which I would normally do via DMZ host. Where I am staying now, however, that is not an option because there is some odd thing about the router/whatever that makes DMZ hosting not available. It does however, have some kind of "static nat" feature. Would that also give me an open Nat? [I already tried forwarding the ports listed for PS3/Playstation network, but when I opened a game is said I still didn't have an open nat.]

Solution
A Static NAT and a open NAT are two different things. A Static NAT doesn't change, an open NAT freely allows the flow of packets between two networks. In short, no a Static NAT wont make your NAT type open.

Dang. Sadness. Now if only I knew why forwarding all those ports didn't change anything. Oh well, at least I'm getting a moderate NAT, as opposed to strict.
