I am building a gaming PC, but I dont know which GPU to pick. My first choice was the Sapphire Radeon R9 280X 3GB Dual-X Video Card -- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202046&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

But I am starting to like Nvidia more. Do you know any video cards that are in the same price range of the R9 280x? Thanks.

You could get a 290 or 290x.

What monitor. AMD gpus do better at higher resolutions tha nvidia, generally, and eyefinity is good for multiple monitors. However, for standard 1080p, nvidia does better, runs cooler and generally has lower power draw. Also nvidia is optimized for DirectX, AMD isn't, although Mantle is trying to close that gap. This means SLI is still better at lower resolutions than Crossfire, but Crossfire works better at higher resolutions than SLI.

Windforce isn't necessary. If he's not overclocking his GPU, Dual-x will do fine, and it costs considerably less than that 770. http://pcpartpicker.com/part/sapphire-video-card-100363l

He asked for cards in the same price range as the 280x, which that 770 is. Also, that isn't a windforce card that I linked. Also, what is the core clock on that 280x? Sometimes it's worth spending just a bit more for a higher core clock because you don't have to worry about OC'ing.

You said the one you'd buy is $289, so I assumed you were talking about Windforce.
