Its varies.
If its water and the card was not powered and you leave it to air dry for 2-3 days there shouldnt be an issue.
If it was powered it could short.
Other liquids can leave residual material behind.

Take some high percentage (95+) alcohol and clean it off, then let it air dry. Use lint free cloths, get them wet, but not dripping.

I would still clean it, though its still working its just peace of mind knowing there is no sugar on the card.
You dont have to worry much if its working though, just make sure theres no gunk.

They can cause shorts, thats really the only danger to the board. Since it works now this is far less likely but the chance is still there.

You should only use the alcohol, water would case the same issues coke would.
The way to see if there is any left, is just that. If you dont physically see it, its probably not there.

Yes, just make sure the power is off, you can touch around to see, it wont harm anything.

Any 90% or higher isopropyl alcohol, you can usually get it online or from places like walgreens.

It wont burn, its the safest way to do it. The warranty wont cover it because there was already liquid there, theres nothing to worry about.

Not being sarcastic haha, isopropyl wont damage components because it evaporates so quickly, and cleanly.
