I have hp compaq 6735s with a screen lighting problem, after a minute screen starts to flicker a bit and than it goes black, if i point flaslight into it i can see everything works, if i close the lid and open it again, i get normal light screen for another 10sec-minute, than it goes off again... First picture is ok, than it starts to flicker and than at random time it goes black. When i hook it to an external monitor that one works fine, but laptop display lighting still goes off randomly, what is the problem and how to fix it ? New lcd display, wires?

But now problem is back, ill post a video of what it is doing and would like some advice again :p

Definitely the problem is your inverter but the problem now is locating the right inverter for your laptop. If you can provide me with the laptops product number it I can be able to locate the right spare number for your model of laptop since 6735s are so many in the market. Its in the form of xxxxxxx#xxx. Or, locate your laptops product number from the list in the link and search for inverter part number.

Hi -
You might try posting this same question over in a forum on the HP site. I can think of only two items that may cause this.
1) Most likely is that you've got a bad connection that is heat-sensitive. As soon as power starts flowing through, it heats up, and the picture dies. Closing the lid allows some heat to vent in some fashion, and then it's good to go for a short time after opening the lid again.

2) You've got a wonky driver that is trying to help save power by turning off the screen back-light. I think this is unlikely, as you mention that the time the screen stays lit is variable.

If it's a hardware problem, the screen will likely need to be replaced.

Wish I had happier thoughts for you...

Your power brick converts A/C from the wall to D/C that can be used by your components. Your laptop screen needs A/C to operate so there is a small inverter inside that goes out often leaving a barely visible screen. Luckily this only a $10 part on ebay and can easily be swapped out. Find a Youtube how to.

HP compaq 6735s
p/n: FU602ES#AKN
s/n: CNU8410CB8

Thank you guys a lot for helping ;)
Inverter huh? Im not that much of an expert, but i would love if that is the issue as it doesn't cost much you say ;) I would also like to change cable that goes from the motherboard into lcd display just in case. Please point me to to where i can buy what i need :p

And about the software, i installed newest graphic drivers, same thing, but i will try flashing new bios just for the heck of it, but its really weird why screen lighting comes up again when i close the lid, real mistery to me

Inverter didnt solve my problems. I ordered another one from ebay and the problem stayed exactly the same. After few seconds and squeeqy noise light shuts off. Will throw my girlfriends laptop in trash obviously.
