Mother in law has an old laptop running Windows XP, and just uses it to play an online game "Grepolis". It's been working fine for several years, but two days ago, it started dropping its wireless connection for no apparent reason. Signal strength is excellent, only one other computer is connected to the network and that one works fine. There isn't an abundance of wireless devices in the house, so it shouldn't be a choking channel (in addition, the nearest neighbour is 1/4 mile away, so it's not like an apartment neighbour is using the same channel clogging access).
I've tried making sure the laptop wasn't trying to connect to old wireless networks it remembers, reset the router, elevated the router to make sure the signal wasn't being blocked by stuff, but it still loses its connection every few minutes. Any ideas? Could the laptop's wireless card just be going?
