What wattage power supply for a i7 4790k?

Hello

What wattage power supply should I use for a pc with a i7 4790?

It will have ssd, GTX 660, dvd drive, 1TB hd, 16 gigs of memory, maybe some lighted fans, and later will upgrade to a 780 or 800 series and maybe the tital if I can swing it.

I have a 750 watt psu that is about 3 years old. It works fine. Can I use that?

Hi again - Scythe has several 750's, but they're all mfg by the same OEM - Sirtec. So, the
unit has more than enough power for your system...

Hi - A true 750w unit is more than enough for that system. You didn't specify brand/model of the
PSU, need to know that to insure it's a true 750 and being 3 yrs old there's a good
chance it's not Haswell compatible.

Plz list brand/model.

Hi again - Scythe has several 750's, but they're all mfg by the same OEM - Sirtec. So, the
unit has more than enough power for your system, but is not Haswell ready.

You can still use it, but you should disable the sleep state function in BIOS.

Dear g335, as a general rule, the efficiency of power supply is max at half of the wattage of SMPS. For example smps with 700W will give best efficiency at about 250 to 300 W. So if your load is about 250W. 650W to 700W would be OK
