Hello all, my dad recently bought a new MSI GT70 2PE Dominator Pro gaming laptop and after playing around with Windows 8 for awhile decided he wanted Windows 7 back. I do not care or want any opinions about Windows 8 or people saying he should keep it, I only want to solve the issue I am having. So I have been playing around, learning, exploring and in general everything you can do with computers for the last couple of years. I have wiped many hard drives before using DBAN, and while I have had a few issues here and there I have never experienced one like this. I loaded the ISO file onto a USB and after putting it into the laptop went into the BIOS and set the USB as the primary and only boot option, I saved that scheme and after exiting the computer restarts; showing the customary MSI start-up screen of course. This is when things just start to piss me off. DBAN does not load and it just goes straight to the BIOS. I have no idea how to fix this problem, I tried using the CMD tool and formatting the drives using a zero-write method but that wouldn't work for either drives even with admin rights. I also tried to wipe the hard drives by going into the drive management tool but for some reason I cannot access the format options. So now I have no idea what to do and I am drawing a blank, any help would be immensely helpful at this point.

if your reinstalling windows on the same laptop for the same person WHY do a zero pass wipe? thats really only something that you should do when getting rid of the hard drive or giving it to someone else. I would just pop in the Windows 7 disk, delete all the partitions, then make what ever new partition scheme you want.

I was thinking of doing this but wasn't sure until I checked back here and saw this, thank you for your suggestion now I am completely sure of what I need to do. :D
P.S. If I could quickly ask, why do you think that all the things I tried didn't work, I won't go down those routes but would still like to know your best guess as to why Windows 8 was being such a tool bag??

well you were using DBAN on a USB so either 1) something could have happened and the boot loader wasn't properly written to the USB Drive or 2) The laptop had an issue booting from that USB drive for some reason.
