I have an Asus computer that I have been looking to upgrade my graphics card on and these are my current specs and I was wondering if i would need to upgrade the current power supply to make it run any of the graphics cards that might be suggested.
- Asus Desktop Pc M11BB Series
Processor: AMD A-10-6700 APU with Radeon(tm) graphics 3.70Ghz
Ram: 12 GB
Windows 8.1
Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 8670D about 726mb of vram
Power supply: I think is 293 watts around there

Solution
With your AMD A-10 I would recommend you go with an AMD 200 series GPU. The higher end cards (200$+) require power supplies of at least 450 watts in most cases. Up to 750 watt for the 280x and up.

This is what I personally recommend.

GPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202049&cm_re=r9_270x-_-14-202-049-_-Product

PSU: http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Builder-Series-Watt-CX600/dp/B0092ML0OC

This will be under 280$ with shipping costs. This PSU has the 2x PCIE connectors required for this GPU.

Solution
For 260$ You can get the utmost bang for your buck with the R9-280X from Sapphire which should handle anything at 1080p ultra settings easily Link : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202046&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=
Also I don't recommend buying Anthony's provided PSU as it is a cheap quality and tend to cause overheating and at many cases it will go out so I think you should go with this PSU : http://www.ncixus.com/products/?usaffiliateid=1000031504&sku=89067&vpn=100-B1-0600-KR&manufacture=eVGA&promoid=1031

Total should be like 310$

He cannot use the 280X because it requires a 750w power supply with 2 PCI connectors which runs for over 100$. My build is within the budget, and the corsair power supplies are some of the best on the market.

280x and a 750w will cost over 400$

total BS sir , total BS . It doesn't need a 750W not because it says on the Packaging 750W that it needs 750W .
Actually you don't need more than 520W PSU as the card alone uses at max load 250W so a 650W should be more than enough as for the CX Series it seems like you've never read anything about it and you watch a lot of Austin Evans videos.

I own the corsair CX 600 and the Corsair 750. It is only safe to get the required PSU that something asks for so that he doesn't come back asking why his computer black screens and crashes.

On the packaging they assume that you use everything in your pc and they assume that you have a crappy PSU that says 750W but only outputs a continuous Wattage of 400W. As EVGA is a trusted PSU Manufacturer and it has all the needed Connectors in the 650W PSU then he should be fine. He can calculate whatever power Outtage on PCpartpicker and see what is the maximum output power and get a PSU of higher 100W . U might need to take a look at this http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/power-supply-psu-brands,3762-5.html
Under Max Load the GPU uses 350W so The max you'll ever need is 650W

If this helps at all i was probably gonna buy a new power supply if i needed to i just wouldnt want it to be that expensive ive seen 700 watt power supplys for like 40$

Not just because it says 700W then its reliable , you have to take a lot of factors in mind mostly a reliable manufacturer and secondly 80+ Bronze/Gold certification.
