CPU fan attachment issue

I have my computer sitting on my desk normally. The other day I had an issue where my dogs got into my room and got into a fight knocking my computer to the ground. At first nothing seemed wrong but when I looked closer I noticed the clip that the cpu fan / heat sync latches on to broke off preventing my cpu fan from properly cooling my CPU. This plastic mount for the CPU seems to be attached to the mother board, so I am unsure of how to fix this without replacing the mother board. Any ideas / help would be greatly appreciated.

Solution
[strike]what motherboard model?[/strike] since it lists your socket as am3+ i dont really need to know.

and yes, that is just the cpu heatsink mount so is not really an issue.

you could use something like the hyper 212 plus which is available for $26 https://pcpartpicker.com/part/cooler-master-cpu-cooler-rrb10212pg1 or the evo for $30 https://pcpartpicker.com/part/cooler-master-cpu-cooler-rr212e20pkr2

both are compatible with am3+ and they include their own mounting bracket solution. you will very likely need to remove the existing plastic cpu mount though as it will likely be in the way and you will likely be needing those holes.

the mount it includes looks like this and replaces what you have now...
photos?

if only the mount for the cpu heatsink, and not the cpu mount and latch itself is broken you could buy an aftermarket heatsink which includes its own mounting bracket. something such as the hyper 212 evo perhaps. this bolts through holes on the motherboard meant for aftermarket heatsinks.

I will take some photos now, it is only a very small piece that broke off, but it just enough that the heatsink won't properly latch on now. I am posting this from said computer, because I have no other way of posting here. Right now my cpu is running at 80 degress C with only a browser open to post this. Should I be worried about using this computer to post here while I try to resolve the issue?

Here is a photo of where my heatsink should be mounted(Sorry for it being a little blurry, if it is really an issue I can try to take a better picture). I have circled the two areas where it connects. The area on the left is broke where as the one on the right is intact.

Solution
yes

you will need to remove the existing thermal paste from your cpu before installing the new heatsink. the best method for this is to use 95% isopropyl alcohol (used for first aid) with a q-tip (otherwise known as a cotton swab). wet the end and rub it on top of the cpu in a circular motion then clean up the gunk with the dry end. it might take you 4-5 swabs before you get everything off. it should look almost like new when clean.

most heatsinks come with thermal paste already applied but if i remember correctly the 212 comes with a little tube you install yourself. you would put this on the cpu itself and not the heatsink. google "how to" as there are different methods. generally i just apply a few small dabs here and there (but be careful not to use too much).
