What PSU does the Dell Inspirion 3000 have. I am looking to get a new graphics card with it. I am getting the EVGA GeForce GT 740 Super Clocked and it requires 400 watts with a minimum of 20 Amp on the +12 volt rail.

More about : psu

a b U Graphics card

You will have to open up the case and take a look, on the PSU there will be a sticker or label with the PSU size and current output.

I haven't bought it yet and the site doesn't say what it has.

You can safely assume it can't support your GPU. Most factory desktop PCs have around 300W, some even 250W. They are unreliable for any adding of extra components besides some RAM or HDD. They are as cheap as they get to keep the overall costs low.

Plus they never include a 6 pin connector, which you would need. It's possible to use a 6 pin to molex cable if the PSU has spare molex, but it would also need 400W plus 20A on the 12V, which you won't find on a factory desktop unless it has a dedicated GPU already.

Would this work? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... and this is the graphics card: http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Superclocked-Graphic...

Those two work together, just make sure the PC has an open PCI-e slot. Most do, but you can never trust factory build PCs to be upgrade-able.

If you're adding a PSU and a GPU, I recommend looking into building your own PC. The reason why factory PCs are so cheap is because they don't include a GPU and have low-quality PSUs.
