Odd PC Sleep Issue

Okay, I think I fixed my last sleep issue.

There's a new one now though.

When my PC sleeps, the HDD light stays on. The keyboard and mouse can't wake it. I need to use the power button. That alone seems to be pretty common, but it's not the main issue. When I try to wake the PC by hitting a button on the keyboard, sometimes it lights up (it's an LED backlit keyboard), and the PC fans spin for an instant. But it doesn't wake up, and after the fan stops the HDD light is off.

I need to use the power button to wake it up. Sometimes, the first time I hit the power button, the same thing happens and the fan spins for a moment, but then it'll stop and the power button needs to be pressed a second time to wake up. I've never had it take 3 tries.

I'm really lost with this. I can't find anything quite like this online. Help please?

Check and see if its connected to a usb3 port . If it is try using a USB 2 port instead

But something else is going on is the hard disk light is on when the pc is asleep . It should turn off and stay off after a few seconds .
How have you set this up in power options ?

control panel > power options

restore the defaults if you have changed them

They're both in 2.0 ports.
I've now restored the defaults, but I just reinstalled Windows when I built the PC a few days ago, so the only power option I'd changed was to have the PC sleep after 30 minutes of inactivity.
