I have a AMD 8350 FX and GTX 780 Ti and 8GB of memory.
I have been playing BF4 and my FPS is at 60+ for a couple rounds but after that it drops to 30-50 FPS and sometimes 20 FPS. I can see on the MSI AB overlay it is not using all the GPU resources. I am wondering if it is a bad card or a bad combo with the AMD processor. The graphics scored 4985 on Firestrike Extreme and the physics scored 8434. I have had artifacts in BF4 but only one time and have been having textures disappear and flicker.

Card might lower gpu clock if power or temperature limit is nearing.

Are you on the stock CPU cooler?

Liquid cooled, I haven't overclocked though.

What do your CPU and GPU temps get to when you notice the slow down?

I don't know about power, but I use afterburner to override the default algorithm for fan speed. It stays at about 60C - 65C. It's also stuttering in BF3 but stays around 60 FPS.

I'm getting stutters right now at about 50 C from GPU (reporting from Afterburner). CPU from Speccy is reporting two different temps, 27C under CPU and 41C under Motherboard(CPU 1).

First, check the driver that is allways a place to start.
Second your virus program might interfere with the said GFX driver, trust me i've tried that before
now, try to hook the power up in different rails, (check on the power supply manual) that way they will get stable power no matter what if none of the above works i have no clue.

Strange, doesnt seem like there should be a good reason why it should be slowing down. I would watch if the CPU or GPU clock speed slows down when you notice the performance drop. With seeing if any of the individual cpu cores get maxed out.

This is a fresh install of windows 8.1, and I have reinstalled the driver numerous times.
No virus programs, just security essentials.
What do you mean by hooking up the power in different rails?

Do you guys think I should I take the whole rig into a computer shop to check for damage? I think it might be my mobo because I have had two gfx cards that acted strange in this setup.

Its not unheard of for some AMD based motherboard to throttle due to VRM temps with the FX chips because they draw a lot of power, but usually the 990FX boards have sufficient VRM setup and cooling.

about the rails, on some power supplies it´s like this, the power is split in 2, on 12 volt rail and another 12 volt rail, not sure if it´s the case with your supply but go check the manual the 780TI does use quiet abit of power and sometimes the power supply is the cause not saying you have a bad power supply it's a beast but go check it out :D
it's just where you hook the connector in like i said, somewhere in the manual =P

Is the VRM cooled by the liquid cooler or is it a chip on the mobo?

Cooled by a heatsink on the mobo, its the bits under the "military class heatsink" on msi board.

Check that heatsink is making good contact.

I didn't need a bios update. I still don't know what's wrong with this setup.

the card is certainly not a bad combo with the processor, ofc it doesn't have the power as an intel but for gaming that doesn't matter now, you should try to RMA the card sounds like it's faulty or even your powersupply could be faulty that would the things i would try, good luck!
