Hey There! So im trying to figure out what graphics card I should buy for my new build, specs are listed below:
- Intel Core i5 4690K
- MSI Z97 G-55
- 8GB RAM
- PSU: Corsair GS600
- HDD: 1TB
- NZXT Phantom 410
- Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo

So which card is going to be better the GTX 770 or the R9 290.

Any non-reference model of R9 290 is better than GTX 770 a little bit.. But GTX 770 is much cheaper than the R9 290.. Get a super clocked (2 GB) version of GTX 770 for lesser price and more or less equal the performance of R9 290..

Thanks for the feed back, but do bits really matter because the GTX 770 is 256 Bits and the R9 290 is 512 Bits I also heard that it overheats too much and its loud

The 512 bit memory bus can move twice as much data in the same time frame.. Are you under budget?

290 is better than 770, BUT do not buy reference design 290, it's awful. Add a couple of bucks and get Tri-X or similar custom cooled 290.

Ok, so I guess I'll go for the R9 290 and no I have to stay below 1.4K

I still strongly suggest to not buy reference design...

Yes, the R9 290 is a better choice, but make sure you get the NON-REFERENCE card
