I'm trying to install windows 7 on my Sony Vaio VGN-N11S with a freshly formatted seagate hdd.
However when trying to boot from cd/normal boot it gives me bootmgr.exe is missing press ctrl+alt+delete to restart in a loop...

The problem is i think i cant even boot from cd at all...
Because without a HDD it doesnt boot too.

Please help :)

That's right, your laptop isn't booting from the DVD, if it was you wouldn't get that error.

You must set the CD drive as the first boot device in BIOS Setup.

To access BIOS Setup, start up the laptop and look at the Vaio splash-screen when it appears. It will tell you which key to press for Setup. On my Toshiba it's F2, but on your Sony it might be a different key.

I Already have set it up as first in the bios
Second of all i stumbled across a problem seems like this hdd was from a old packard bell notebook i had a while ago. i formatted this hdd 3x with CMD + formatted it with hirensbootcd and yet i get a packard bell recovery method....
What is going on..

No idea what that is you're referring to.

The issue with the Packard Bell hard drive is that the PB Recovery is on a hidden partition which still exists because you didn't wipe the entire hard drive, only a portion of it.

If CD is already set as the first boot device in BIOS, try bringing up the Boot Device Menu. Same procedure as getting in to BIOS Setup except you press a different F key. It's F2 on my Toshiba, don't know what it is for Sony, but try F2 or F11
