Pc Randomly Shutting down. Think Ram/Mobo is the problem.

Hi. So my pc randomly started shutting down, no Dump files are created and it does this quite randomly.
Sometimes i can leave it on for 4 hours and when i come back it will shut down within 2 minutes of mouse movement and random doings..

First i tried doing a memtest with all 4 rams in and i got 1 error. I only had time to do 1 pass with all 4 sticks so..
I went on vacation for a week and now that i am back i am trying to figure out what is causing the problem..
I individually tested each stick for 2 passes ( because i was frustrated and i wanted to figure this out asap ) and noone of em had any errors..

Tonight i tried another memtest with all 4 ram pieces in and the computer had shut down by the time i woke up..
Now i'm trying to do memtest with 2 sticks at a time and after about 30-40 minutes the screen goes black..

I don't have any receipts as i bought this computer used 1 year ago and i lost the receipts in an email wipeout..
So RMA is out of the question..

Will post speccs next time memtest crashes or if it actually finishes 8 or so passes.

36 min in, completed 1 pass no errors/black screen. using 2 sticks in recommended slots.

How long have you had your PC before it started doing the rebooting? But yea look at event viewer after it happens or if you know the approximate time/date of the last reboot you can go back through windows system events and see what shows up, but if you see Event 41 Kernel Power and very few other events then I would bet money it's PSU related.
What make and model of power supply do you have? If you ran memtest and everything was fine, that is the next logical step to investigate.

PS: Make sure your ram is the same speed, timings, and voltage as well. It is not a good idea to mix and match different ram if you have done this.

Yeah the ram are all equal.
My psu is a: Corsair Hx1050. I am a bit afraid it could be the PSU as well..

Seems like im not getting a black screen now during memtest. so i will let it go as long as possible ( hopefully 8 passes ) on all 4. Going 2 and 2 sticks atm and i'll post back then with speccs and everything.

My temps are very good. Unless the PSU is overheating.. I will check the event log after the memtest. Thanks

Same thing was happening to me (specs below), I would be gaming, browsing the web, etc and *click*, it would instantly die and then boot back up on its own after a second or two. There would be no blue screens, and nothing in event viewer aside from "Event ID 41 - Kernel Power - The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first..." every time. After trying every possible troubleshooting method I could think of I decided to replace the PSU because the reboots were so random and there was no discernible pattern. Not to mention my PSU was some weird off-brand that I've never heard of ("Coonix" 800w), so PSU failure after 7 months didn't seem like too big of a stretch. I got a SeaSonic S12II 620w and it hasn't rebooted since I put it in about 10 days ago so everything seems to be going good seeing as how I couldn't go longer than a day without the reboots/restarts happening.

What kind of GPU/video card do you have, and what drivers are you using (e.g. a disc that came with it, manufacturers website, nvidia/amd's website)? Also I would check event viewer directly after it reboots. If you've got a spare PSU lying around that would be good to try.

ASRock Fatal1ty Z68 pro gen3
i5-2500k
Corsair 4GB (x2)
Geforce GTX 550 ti
ADATA 120gb SSD
[strike]Coonix 800w[/strike] SeaSonic S12II 620w

Damn.. I'm running Gtx 680 Sli.. Running latest drivers and i just did a clean driver wipe / reinstall.
Patience is really taking it's toll on me here.. since it's sounding more and more like the Ram isn't the problem after all..

I've had it for about a little over a year, and the last owner has had it for.. approx 6 months i think. Not 100% sure on that.
Gonna check event viewer now. Update in 5.
