So I will be getting the Maximus VII Formula in a few days.

So I wonder.. Do I need to re-install the OS?

The CPU remains the same, i7 4770k.

Yes, you will need to reinstall, as you have a lot of new drivers to install, and your Windows will not recognize your new mobo, making it impossible to run at the beginning.

That major of a hardware change requires a reinstall of any OS.

I don`t think Avast will be by any way connected to the mobo, like Win7 is, so you should be good.

It's connected in the SSD. Which I will re-install. So Avast will be gone.

But will I be able to re-use the license key I bought?

I`m aware it`s installed in the SSD (you can`t have software installed in thin air :D  ), but the license should not be connected to the motherboard you are replacing, so you should be able to re-use your license without any problem.
