Hey.
I have 330$ to spend for a new graphics card. Should I buy a GTX 770 now, (if so, please suggest one) or wait for the GTX 870 to release this fall?

Solution
I just built my own gaming rig and debated the same issue. I wanted an NVidia card because I plan to use it later on for professional applications that will likely use cuda, but right now just wanted a great gaming rig. In the end I decided to go for a single EVGA Superclocked ACX GTX 770 which I got on NCIXUS for $309 brand new. Now I see that this same graphics card has gone on sale for $299. I honestly would recommend that you pick up the 770, as the 870 could come out as early as October, but as late as 1st quarter of 2015. I've gotten great performance from my 770 and may add another around Christmas time when I assume there will be some pretty good sales. That's just my two cents, but I hope it is helpful!

how is waiting never a solution? He could wait a few more months and then snag the 770 for a lower cost once the 800 series are released. If hes not itching for an upgrade..why not wait?

I edited the title earlier, sorry for not being specific. I'm planning on using it for gaming.

its always a gamble when you buy second party i have had nothing but good luck parts these days are built better then what they where 5yrs ago, or look on your local craigslist and see if you can find anything also i found a complete build with a 780ti and a 8350 it was about a 1300$ machine got it for 750$ sold everything and made 400$

Problem is we don't know what 870 will be and how much more powerful it will be so it's sort of a gamble.

If you need a card kind of early, just get a 700 series, but if you can wait, I'd wait for 800 series.
