Hey guys! I need some help picking the right parts for my new PC. I cannot exceed $600, so please don't go over that price if possible. The build will not include a monitor, keyboard, mouse or speakers. It must, however include a WiFi card. I would also like if it would be able to play battlefield 4 and planetside 2 at least on the lowest settings while maintaining a minimum fps of 30. Thanks for your time!

Do you need windows in that $600?

Compared to the above build these parts have far more gaming ability, even the weakest graphics card I chose is better than the R7 250X which is basically a HD 7770. You can overclock this processor and the ram is faster. Granted you lose some HDD space but if you can live with 250Gb then it's worth the trade imo, also that 1Tb HDD is a laptop drive so will be slow. Finally that Coolermaster power supply is one of those el-cheapo units that says it can deliver 600W but dies if you exceed 450W and is very inefficient.

Yeah, PS will definitely benefit from an overclock of the 6300. Maybe the Pentium Anniversary might be worth considering if they overclock the heck out of it?

Although I agree, 7200 RPM and 1TB is necesarry, since only BF3 and BF4 can take more than 50GB alone, and OS will be 16GB or even more, so yeah, a problem right there. The R7 250X is cheaper and support 11.2, Mantle etc., so I've chosen it. You can deselect the Sound Card and get something better than R7 250X, then it would be even better. Intel is, at keast fore me, faster in every meaning, especially for rendering and single-core apps. And i3-4350 etc. are new. Don't forget that a strong and fast Wi-Fi ard is needed for minimum lag and Ping. Everything stronger than R7 260X to me is not needed, but if you need it, you can go with Samsung HD754JJ and R7 260X. Since it's BF4 and at minimum at 30fps, an expensive computer is farfetched.

You can just about squeak into the budget of an i5 build with some graphics compromise

and this build still hammers the above with better graphics, ram etc and with a 1Tb desktop drive though I haven't included Windows in this one.

Oh yeah both games will still run on either AMD or intel, no problem there...

Now DO YOU NEED WINDOWS IN THAT BUDGET MY GOOD SIR???

What Luco is saying is that battlefield like to have lots of cores because it uses them all so performs better with many. Planetside will only use one or two cores properly so if the individual cores are not very good it can slow you down just like not having enough cores will slow down Battlefield. The best solution would be an i5 processor as they have multiple very strong cores or to overclock the 6300 so that it's many individual cores perform better. Hope this makes sense. I'm gonna drive home from work now so will be off the grid for an hour or so but please let us know if you need us to include the price of Windows in your build.

Nice build Luco, that's a lot of bang for your buck! No idea how I didn't notice I'd left the hyper evo on my Intel build, obviously not required on a non-k part!

Hey OP, don't forget to select Luck as the best solution, that's a great build for $600

Yeah it's alright for $600 w/OS, only slight worry is it's a haswell refresh CPU and although I've heard reports that this exact model of gigabyte should work with it out of the box, I haven't confirmed it. Alternative is to get the almost identical i5-4440 to be safe, but I think it's ok.
