Does this 4670k look right?

I am currently building a gaming rig (my first time) and I am struggling with the CPU. The CPU is an Intel 4670k and the motherboard is a MSI Z87-G45. I have placed the cpu into the socket but it is requiring too much force to push the handle down. I have attached some pictures (sorry about the quality) does it seem right?

Thanks for your help in advance!

Take the cpu out and be 100% sure that none...

Hi, thanks for your prompt reply! All of the pins seem fine, I am really unsure of why it seems to require this much pressure. I really do not want to damage anything.

How is the cpu meant to sit into the socket?

It should rest quite lightly, with just a a very small amount of room to move around.

My 4770k did require some force and I did stutter a bit at first because I was surprised. I think if no pin is bent and it's properly orientated you should be fine slowly pushing down on it. You WILL hear the pins being crushed and might freak out a little, but that's normal.

Hi, thanks for your reply! From the image, does it seem the cpu is correctly placed?

Yes it does, you can see the 2 dented sides are at the top were they should be to fit in the socket.

Thanks again, the problem is that the socket lever almost bends as it requires so much force to clamp down. Do you think this is normal and should I just risk it and force it down?

Take the cpu out and be 100% sure that none of the pins are bent. But yes, like I said, it took a surprising amount of force when I installed my 4770k, so you shouldnt be scared.

Here are some pictures of the socket, can you notice any bent pins? (Thanks for your help once again)

Thanks everyone, I finally managed to do it! I think I was just being overly cautious because I have spent the last few months planning and saving for this build and so I did not want anything to go wrong.

This forum and its members are amazing!
