Should I get a i7 4770k or i7 4790k for gaming and making vids also what is a good motherboard that works with a 4770k or 4790k

Solution
You just want to record in game videos and stream live? You should just get an i5-4690k and get an NVidia card and use Shadowplay. AMD's Game DVR is OK too, but on my own machines it's been causing a ton of stability problems.

First off, everything in i7 4700 series is great for pretty much everything, since it's a multi-core series, and a high-end series from Intel. If you have the budget, go with i7 4790k, since it's a lot stronger than the i7 4770k. But if you don't have the budget, stick with the 4770K. The 4790K is not too expensive compared to 4770K. The motherboard will be: For 4770k: GA-Z87X-D3H For 4790K: Asus Z97-PRO

4790K comes out of the box at 4.0ghz, and is supposed to have better thermal interface material between the chip and its heat-spreader, causing it to run cooler than the 4770K. The 4690K has the same thermal upgrade and comes clocked at 3.5ghz, I believe. If you're doing video rendering with an application that will make use of hyper-threading, then get the i7.. If you are using it for games and recording game footage is what you mean, and you're going to overclock anyway, then the i5 has virtually identical performance. Either way, the xx90K should be worth getting over an xx70K.
