Both are used and about the same price. The kicker is that the 270 is almost brand new with 2.5 years in warranty, where as 660 ti's warranty expired. 270 is oc version only 25mhz short of 270x.

I'm upgrading from gtx 460. My cpu is i7 4770k.

Thank you!

Is there anything I should know about the software side for switching go ati? I remember back in 8800/4850 days ati drivers were poor, did not support true black in movie playback and randomly crashed fairly often. Ever since I upgraded my 4850 to gtx 460 i forgot all about the silly driver problems, crashes and lack of features. I wouldn't want to step back into any of that just for the sake of warranty or fps.

But then I wouldn't want to pass on ati cards out of fear of what they used to be either...

Apologies for continually asking more questions, but new offers allow me to get either 270x or 7950 at about same everything. Now I know that 7950 is superior, even if slightly, but I like the 3gb vram bit the most since I do 3d in 3ds Max, and more vram can be useful for the GPU rendering.

Anyway, my concern now is that 7950 uses almost 2x more power while idle with 2 monitors /w different resolutions. Since my computer idles 99% of the time, I'm not sure how smart it is to get the more powerful card for slight and likely unnoticeable gaming benefits.

According to techpowerup its 29 vs 46watt for 270x vs 7950:

the difference is not that huge....
