Hi,
I'm running a ROG Asus Maximus Vii Hero with intels I7-4790k. I have two problems. First, my ram is only registering as 1333mhz in bios when I installed 2133 trident X series. Second, I did a valley bench mark and cpu temp went to 70 degrees, as of now I'm idling 31-34 degrees. Is 70 too high and if so how do I fix that? What is up with the ram? I have an Evo212 aftermarket cooler on it as well, using storm trooper case default fans for now. Thank you.

Solution
For the ram, go into bios and look at the different ram profiles you have. There should be one in there that is setup for the 2133MHz. The cpu temps are fine.

I will check the bios. Is it better to run the ram at 1333 if 2133 is not required? I got the ram with the board that is why I am using it. Or will I have better results pushing it towards 2133? Also, many forums I'm reading are complaining about the 70 being too high. I cant for the life of me find what temps the cpu is supposed to be at under load. Thanks again.

I appreciate the info. I am a new builder and this is my first rig. I have to say, I am a little nervous that this machine will not function as advertised. I found the XMP. It is my understanding that it will OC my chip as well. Is there a way that the ram can be set to 2133 without ocing the cpu?

I think I will stay away from prime. I'm using real test to monitor cpu temps and going to run normal applications, programs as games as I would do and monitor the temps. Is that a good way of checking?

hey man i got the same chip as you can you run prime95 the newest version and tell us your temps, then run prime95 26.6 it should be fairly cooler.

My temps i get are 78 degrees max with prime95 v 28.x and with version 26.6 i get around 59-61 max temps, can anyone confirm if these are solid temps at stock settings with a h100i.

Running the RAM at 2133 is effectively overclocking the memory controller on the CPU, but its fine to do so.

I haven't ran prime yet and I will get the version 26 something that I heard is better for the stress testing. I'm waiting on my side panel that has additional fans before I run stress test. I currently Idling at 35C for cpu (HWmonitor) 31,29,27,30 (realtemp). I get into the 50's and have reached 65 on 57% load before. From what I have been reading I should be running a lot cooler. Would love to post pic on the temps as soon as I figure out how.

you should run prime95 for your true most highest temp possible for your cpu b/c it is using avx2 instructions and you should also run aida64 for more realistic temperatures or even something like x264, intel extreme tuning utility stress test.
