Which of these are better?

Solution
i3 is a dual core.
i5 is a quad core.
i3 causes problem when running multiple applications while i5 wont
i5 will last u much longer and it can support all gpu without bottlenecking.
I would say go for i5.

Don't believe reviews that online websites produce for new reading material. The i3 and Pentium CPUs are NOT gaming CPUs, period! They are low-end CPUs for crappy PCs for businesses to put in their employees PCs to run Office. They are also for OEM distributors to build low-end laptops and desktops in Best Buy for casual PC users.

If you are on a budget (even if not, AMD have great CPUs, Bulldozer is history!), get an FX CPU for gaming. The FX-6300 is a high end CPU period. It will last for years for gaming.

If you don't like AMD, then get at least an i5. Do yourself a favor. With either an i5 or FX, you will not be waiting forever for Windows installation, Windows, updates, program installations, etc. You are going to do more with your PC than game, remember that.

Here we go again. Please name a game that has been released within the past two years that only uses 2 cores? The only game I own that utilizes two cores is StarCraft 2, which came out in 2011. It is not about using 2 cores, it is about games being configured to utilize most (if not all) of the processing power of modern CPUs. Every game I own except for SC2, uses 4 to 8 cores. I have a tri-monitor setup and can clearly see games like Max Payne 3, Witcher 2, Titanfall, BF3 all use 4 to 8 cores in the task manager/resource monitor. Tomb Raider is another modern title that scales nicely, using about 10% of all my 8 cores. Whereas Wolfenstein New Order uses about 30% to 50% of all 8 cores.

New games with powerful game engines and graphics will utilize as much of your CPU power as it needs nowadays. That is why you will not find a triple AAA title recommending a dual-core chip in the year 2014.
