Problem with a Gigabyte GTX 570

Hello,

After I moved my computer (via plane) I discovered that my GPU ( Gigabyte GTX 570) is acting weird. Upon booting the PC, the screen is full of artefacts. The first thing I did was putting the GPU onto another PCI-e port (my Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3 has 2) which seemed to work at first. However after running for several minutes the artefacts start coming back.

I think that since the card is pretty heavy, it damaged its connector during transportation. I want to know if there's anything I could do besides buying a new one? Also, tell me if you need additional info.

The mobo only has an HDMI port and unfortunately I don't have an HDMI cable. Here's what I did though.

I have another computer with a Gigabyte P35 D3SL mobo and a ATI HD 6850 GPU. I switched the 2 GPUs to be sure that the problem comes from the GTX 570. The ATI GPU works fine on the Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3.
Meanwhile, the GTX 570 will work fine when the box is laying on the side, but when the box is standing, the artifacts start to appear. I'm posting pictures below.
I really think that the GTX 570 is too damn heavy and when the tower is standing up the weight of the GPU causes problems for the PCI-e port.

EDIT: I'm pretty sure that the problem only occurs when the tower is standing up. I booted up the PC with the tower laying on the side again and everything was fine. As soon as I start lifting the tower to make it stand up artifacts start to appear. When I make it lay down again they disappear.

Well, you could use the tower on its side. Airflow will be messed up, but functional. But if that is the case, yes you will need a new gpu. about time for an upgrade anyway. an r9 270 is cheap and a will be a good upgrade. If you want Nvidia, I guess a 760, but it will run an extra $80-$100.

For now I just put the GPU onto the other PCI-e slot. It works most of the time but it crashed twice in the span of few hours. I think that the PCI-e port that originally held the card is completely broken now and I don't think there's anything I can do about it. Same for the GPU connector. I will probably buy a new GPU as you suggested.
