Hi guys,
As the title suggests, I have 2 HD 4850 cards. Now, for some time Ive been running them in crossfire mode on a Foxconn Mars mobo, which I believe was x16 and x4. Recently, the psu failed, and took the mobo with it, so, new system, which is:-
Asus M5A97 evo rev 2.0 mobo
AMD FX6300 cpu
16gb Gskill ripjaw ram
Transcend 120gb ssd
Assorted hdd
850watt psu
I didnt go for the 99fx mobo, 1. Too expensive 2. I dont really need two x16 pcie lanes.
So, my question is, what card would you guys recommend that would give me a noticable improvement over my ageing pair of cards?
I have to say, I have always bought used graphics cards. I bought the first hd4850 512mb at least a year or two before adding the second 1gb card, when prices dropped low enough to afford it. I'd rather buy a used top card a few years old, than a new low end card.
I tend not to play the latest games either, I find a game I like, and can stick with that for years. HL1, was a case in point. I do have an occasional urge for flight sims too.
I was looking at Nvidia gtx 580 cards on ebay, going for around £100. I dont really feel justified paying more than that.
Any recommendations would be appreciated, thanks.

7850 would be a bit faster than your 4850x2. about 20% faster. any card less than that is not worth it

I am not a fan of PowerColor, but for the price it's a good choice imo bud.

Thanks for your input, will let you know what and when I choose.
