I was just playing a video game casually when my screen went dark. I was still hearing sounds and I was able to talk through mic. Just no video.

I tried to restart but when I get past the windows logo, nothing shows up and I see a black screen.

Tried to restart with a different screen and I saw the blue screen of death.

So far,

I checked the hardware to make sure nothing is burned or over heating.

I'm suspecting my video card but it seems to be working fine and nothing looks massed up.

Solution
getting a black screen after windows does a graphics driver update is cause by a mixed set of graphics driver. Most often because the windows install required a reboot to complete the driver update and you did not reboot before you installed your vendors graphics setup software.

you have to reboot into safe mode, go to control panel disable the auto install of device drivers, uninstall the graphics driver. install the current driver from your vendor and reenable the auto install of device drivers in control panel again. then reboot.

Always reboot your system after windows updates your graphics driver to prevent this problem in the future.

I cant get into safe mode. It asks me to repair automatically, which I tried in the past. [strike]Wanted to try advanced repair but it doesn't let me select it.[/strike]
Apparently one of my usb plugs are not working. Tried another one and I was able to get my mouse working.
Trying to restore my system to 23th atm.

Reinstalled windows, everything worked fine until windows installed an update regarding my 6800 series graphic card and this caused me to see black screen again. Now doing another fresh install and will avoid updating windows.
