My R9 280x was RMA, Should I keep it or replace it with a GTX 770?

Solution

thats 20$ mroe than a card that has 4gb and is 16.2% stronger even more so when overclocked. I would recommend you just get your refund and get that r9 280x back or if you wanted get r9 290 but thats up to you.

I think the 280x holds a slight edge in performance, but may be a little less reliable, as some have had artifacting issues here and there. Nvidia drivers may be better overall too, but amd's mantle may or may not be a nice advantage in some things... As mentioned, the extra Gb of VRAM doesn't hurt either.

I think those issues were caused by the Hynix/Eplidea vram with one being unstable at high temps while the other being fine. Also i havent heard of anymore artifacting since like early march i think. Nvidia driver are better but the price premimum is not worth it. Mantle helps with less CPU overhead thus allowing for max performance and better performance(10-15fps boost at max) on older/weaker cpus. That extra vram will help aswell for longevity.
