This has just started happening a few days ago...

We have two routers, one netgear, and a ADP one, the ADP is our modem/router, the ADP is connected to our netgear one, so we have two different ssid for the same network, dont ask...
We need the ADP because thats our modem and my parents use the Netgear as the router, the last few days im been getting ping on games in the 500+, when i turn off the netgear router and just use the ADP my pings are below 50, but my parents use the netgear for the printer and my dad has his pc connected to it via ethernet, so we cant get rid of the netgear, we have a 6mbps plan and we barely get 2mbps unless i turn off the netgear router, we cant bridge them because we cant access the ADB config page because we dont have the username and password, so im stuck, internet is really slow but we need both routers, i was thinking interference but it just started happening few days ago, we been living here with this network lay out for about a year now, wats goin on

More about : confused internet

There are a couple of things I would do. First, since you cannot access The ADP router to change it into bridge mode, I would put your Netgear into AP mode. To do this, go into the Netgear config and disable DHCP. Now connect the cable from the ADP router LAN port to one of the LAN ports on the Netgear (you won't use the WAN port on the Netgear). I assume since you can't get into the configuration on the ADP, you can't see what channel the ADP wireless is set for. You need to get a program like inSSIDer or Wifi analyzer app. Find your SSID's and see what channels they are on. You should only use channels 1, 6,, or 11 on the 2.4Ghz band. Now make sure your two SSID's are using different channels. You will have to work around the ADP one since you cannot access its config. Change your Netgear accordingly. Also make sure the channel width on the 2.4Ghz band is set to 20mhz.

That solution you told me made my netgar router even slower, and adp the same, no change, and i cant get in my netgear router because if i put the ethernet back in the WAN port it doesnt connect to the internet at all and if i leave it in the ethernet port i get slower internet and when i ipconfig to get the ip it shows apb instead of netgear, its all screwed up

You should be able to get into your Netgear router as it is currently, without using the WAN port. Just use its IP address to pull up the config, then you can put it back like you had it, then you can reconnect it with the WAN port. I am not real sure what you have going on. It should be faster, or at the VERY worst, the same speed.

I had to reset the router back to default settings to get to work again, it didnt help, same speeds for it tho so i put it back, why is it happening now, why not when we first moved in, when we first got the internet, no 12 months down the road, so wierd if disconnect the netgear the speeds go up all the way, i got on one of my games, turned netgear on had MASSIVE lag, disconnected it and the best ping ive ever had,

I would just shut off the wireless part of the netgear router. Then you'll only have the one wireless SSID to worry about, and the direct wired connections to the netgear will still function.

Sounds like you need to do a full factory reset on both devices and start over.
