Hello.

I'm going to be upgrading my graphics card from a 5850 and could use some help deciding on what to upgrade to. I've mainly narrowed it down to a r9 280 and a gtx 760. These are the cards I'm debating between.

280:

If anyone has any other suggestions please feel free to bring them up and thanks for your help.

The 280 is better than the 760. So I'd get the 280. It will have no problems maxing out most games at 1080p. And if you plan on going to higher resolutions AMD handles it better than nVidia (would probably crossfire though for 4k or 3 monitors)

Thanks for the response. Yeah that seems to be the case but I've also noticed that on a fair bit of occasions the 760 beats out the 280 on some benchmarks. So with that taken in mind does the fact that this 760 is also already overclocked do anything to make it better than the 280 or do you think the 280 is still generally the best option. I also have no plans to go over 1920x1080 so that's not a huge issue.

Well in that case, either will so for you. The 280 will probably max out more games than the 760 though. And depending on where you are the 280 is cheaper than the 760 (it is here in the US). In my opinion you should go for the cheaper one.

Thanks for the response. I will be going with the 280.
