I very recently built a gaming PC, and whenever I stress test it, the monitor goes black and says "Monitor going to sleep". The PC is then completely unresponsive and I have to manually flip the power switch on the PSU. The power button on the case doesn't even work when that happens. The funny thing is that I can play Battlefield 4 max settings at 1080p for hours on end, and my PC can handle it perfectly fine. However when I play a less graphically intensive game like Dota 2, the blackscreen happens almost every other game after less than an hour. This issue only occurs when running stress tests and (as far as I can tell) Dota 2.

Specs:
FX 6300 CPU running at stock clock speeds
M5A97 R2.0 Mobo
XFX DD R9 280X GPU also running at stock (1000 core/1500 mem), non overvolted, power limits in MSI Afterburner turned to +20
and Corsair CX 750m 80+ rated PSU

None of my base settings have been changed, except for the +20 on power limits on MSI Afterburner. Nothing overclocked, the GPU is not factory overclocked.

GPU max temp is 75C, after that the GPU starts throttling itself to stay at 75. CPU temp never rises above 55.

After the blackscreen nothing responds, event viewer only shows that power was cut to the PC, everything is running except for the monitor and (I think) the GPU. I'm fairly sure that the PSU is good enough, as it is rated for 80+ and has enough amps on the 12 volt rail, although it is the CX series. I'm completely stumped and have considered RMA'ing the card.

I didn't OC the card. Everything running stock. The XFX R9 280x comes stock clocked the same as the AMD reference model. I know the cards have had display flickering issues in the past, but nothing in the reviews I read described my situation. Nothing is OC, my PSU is if not the best, a reliable brand and rated highly, 6 pin and 6+2 pin PCI power connectors are connected to my GPU, I fully uninstalled the graphics drivers and reinstalled the latest non beta ones with a driver cleaner and AMD Catalyst. The card also recently had some problems where when running MSI Kombustor, the PC shut down suddenly and restarted after topping out at 70C. I added 3 fans to my case to reduce temperatures, and now have 2 x 120 mm front intakes, 2 x 140 mm top exhausts, 1 x 120 mm back exhaust, and a 200 mm side intake. My PSU is facing upwards into the case, as my hardwood floor has some dust issues and I would prefer to intake from within the case as I have such a overkill cooling solution. I did google this issue, everybody else's issue seemed to have been with dodgy PSUs, but I'm completely sure that my PSU is solid. I have no access to other PSUs for testing, as this is my first build. I have had to hard shut down by flipping the switch on the PSU many times now, and it happens randomly. Sometimes I can play crysis 3 for hours on end, and afterwards it crashes on Dota 2, or it can crash 3 or 4 times consecutively on starting up Dota 2 10 or so minutes after starting up my PC. Another issue I have noticed is that when I start MSI Afterburner, my fan speed ramps up suddenly if I have a game running. I have a custom fan profile set on that where it goes up to 100% fan speed almost immediately, as I have no concerns for noise and also only really run games. I noticed that my fan speed doesn't change when starting a game if MSI Afterburner isn't running, and stays at a very low speed, only going up when MSI Afterburner starts.. Could my GPU fan staying at almost 0% speed even when running intensive games be responsible for my Dota 2 crashes on startup?
