Hi, I installed a 4GB (@1333MHz) RAM stick on a computer that had 1x2GB (@800MHz), but the PC won't start, i mean it starts but just with a black screen, everything is running (HDD, fans, video card etc.) I checked every connection and they're solid, the CPU FSB is 1333 MHz, MB also supports 1333MHz.I configured the bios for 1333MHz then Auto, still won't work; I tried reseting the BIOS using a jumper, even removed the battery and left it for about a minute, and it still won't start. If I put back the 2GB RAM, it starts, if I put both of them in it starts but only sees the small one. I don't get it. (I tested the 4GB ram stick on a different PC and it works without problems).

Yeah, sorry about that. After the reboot the bios won't even start, it's just a blank screen, nothing happening. Did everything by the book, not the first time changing a RAM stick.

What's the model # of the DRAM? Do you have the latest BIOS? and if you did reset the BIOS to defaults as suggested above that in itself may be the problem.....Your mobo is a socket 775 and the default is to run a 800 FSB, chances are good the DRAM has a enry level of 1066 if it's a newer stick, might also use high density chips in which case it won't work....rather than defaults, I boot with an older stick and get the FSB up to 1066 or 1333 and then try the stick and see if you can get to BIOS

The RAM is a Zeppelin 4GB DDR3 1333MHz CL9 [#259585 | ZE-DDR3-4G1333-b] I also booted with the older stick and set the FSB at 1333 but with the same outcome. Could it be a faulty MB? I don't think it has the newest version of BIOS
