HI all,
I give up. I have cloned my ssd 2x. First time with the Samsung data migration,. When that didn't work, I used Macrium. System will not boot w/ssd. Bios recognizes it. Tried ATa, ACHI, no go. Running win8.1 on a Dell Inspiron 660 desktop. What am I missing?
Thanks,
Judy

After cloning, remove original (donor) hard drive, then connect SSD to the SATA cable that the donor drive was connected to.

Alternatively, leave drives as they are but go into BIOS Setup and set the SSD as the first boot device, it's probably still set to the original donor drive.

Thank you for responding so quickly. Unfortunately I've done all that...unplugged donor drive, changed ssd to 1st boot, tried legacy vs uefi, achi to ata and back again, all to no avail. Now I'm thinking I'll create a boot device and load windows that way. I primarily want to run the os from the ssd and retain the sata drive for storage. I wonder what I'm doing incorrectly when I clone. Two different programs used to clone and still no positive result.
