Hi, I am in the process of considering getting a gaming laptop or a ps4. I already have a gaming desktop, but unfortunately didn't think about portability and having to lunge its massive size around everywhere along with peripherals. So I'm wondering which one will give me the better over all use in gaming while I'm away from my desktop.

Solution
Get the best gaming laptop.

- The GPU on a PS4 is commonly said to be not as good as the 860M, 870M and 880M.
-A lifespan on a gaming laptop is longer than a PS4.
- Laptop is much more portable than a console.
-You can play games on Steam

Maybe consider a Gaming PC if you don't mind.

Note: This is my honest opinion.

Joeteoh- Yes, you are spot on with that. However, there is one area where you're wrong. The PS4 lifespan is much longer than a gaming laptop. I've had my PS3 for 8 years, and it's still going strong. A gaming laptop will last about 4-5 years, at most :/

depending on you budget if its about 500-1200 u should get the ps4 and if its about 1500-2000 usd you should get a gaming laptop . if longevity of the device concerns you should get the ps4 as it has twice the lifespan of any gaming laptop/desktop.

1. Please, tell me how a 2k Gaming Laptop with an 880m runs Watch dogs Ultra at ~40fps is better than a 500$ console that runs the game at 60fps. The same question goes for a desktop with an 780 ti (the 780 doesn't have enough vram and therefore the fps are poor)
2. I disagree with this one
3. True
4. True
OP Needs portability

Danbuscus "a ps4 would be cheaper than a laptop with the same gaming power. only problem is, the ps4 needs an external monitor/TV." True

Now my opinion:
If you're sure you will have an external monitor and you don't need any other utilities of a laptop (browsing, office, etc) I'd say you're better off with a ps4. If you are unsure about having a monitor or you need office or anything that can't be done on a ps4 get a laptop

me? none in specific. I am just saying get what fits your needs. Do you have the external monitor? do you need to do some office, web browsing, itunes? A ps4 is a console made for gaming, laptops/desktops are made for multiple purposes. You will have to spend much more in a laptop/desktop to get a ps4's perfomance even though benchmarks show the ps4 has weaker hardware. Numbers were most likely made up (although they are quite accurate, I wasn't talking about any specific models)

no arguements there unless he has the dough to buy anything with an 880m or 860m sli or even 880m sli

To me this is a no-brainer: get the PS4. It's going to be far superior performance-wise to any laptop under $1000, so it's much less expensive, and you get a huge array of games as well as a much larger screen to watch it on. The only reason IMO to get a laptop is if you want PC-specific games, such as StarCraft, BF4, etc.

at 500$ you only get an intel HD graphics, 800$ an 840m, 900$ for an 850m system, 1000$ gets you an 860m, 1400$ an 870m and you get an 880m for 1800$ (or two 860m). 2500$ for dual 880m. Modify 8*100 + X*10 + Y to 7*100 + X*10 + Y (when X and Y [0, 10) ) for desktop comparisons. Do you still think a laptop/desktop would beat a 500$ console when gaming? Not even a 780 ti sli x3 card with its micro-sluttering beats a ps4 besides in benchmarks. IMO, it just feels better and is 10 times cheaper.

#trustnme I would say that if you have no problem then go for a PC under whatever your budget because it is better but if still.......... a PS4 is better if used only for Gaming

First of all, a 2k laptop will probably have a 970 to 980, not an 860m. I think you should go do some price check. Second, pc ultra > ps4 graphics by a mile.

I don't know of any console that can run watchdogs at 60 FPS @1080P. Both PS4 and XBox One runs them at 30FPS and my PS4 runs the game @ 900P. My laptop with a 980M runs it fine at 60FPS @ 1080P with higher settings than my PS4 runs the game at. Add to that I can also MOD the graphics on my laptop watchdogs vs ps4 watchdogs. (I sold my copy of ps4 watchdogs and got it for PC instead.)
