Is the protective foam of the motherboard antistatic ?

Hello !


When i install the CPU etc on the motherboard, can i work on the protective foam which is include in the box ? Is it antistatic ?

Yes you can work on it, but it's true anti static properties are when it is inside the bag the M/B is shipped in as the bag is actually a Faraday cage, but it is only affective with the M/B inside the bag, but many use the foam as you want to do, and I've never heard of it being a problem.

just do NOT turn it on while it is on top of the antistatic bag, if you chose to build it on there.

What is the diffecrence between soft foam and styrofoam ?

styrofoam can be conductive, from what i hear.

idk, but you should be fine with the soft foam, or the box, or the countertop/table, etc.
