Hello,
I am a little embarrassed to ask this question here, but I need the wifi connection!

There is a cafe nearby where I am currently staying which offers a wifi network. I go to the cafe every day, but also use the wifi from my room as I can get the signal there too. Mainly in the evening/night when the cafe is closed but the wifi is still available. It's been fine for the last week but last night I did some software updates which look like they were bigger than expected and today the network is no longer available on my list of available networks.

I puzzled over this for a while then opened my other laptop and there it was, still. So I'm guessing/assuming, that one of my laptops has been locked out/banned/hidden from the network - possibly for the downloading overnight? I really don't know, ,maybe it's just a coincidence, but I'm guessing that must be it.

Since I can still access the network from my 2nd laptop, I'm guessing it's some sort of 'ID' thing - but I don't know much about this. Could someone please tell me how I can change the 'ID' of my laptop so I can reconnect to this wifi network?

As I say, I am sorry to ask, but I need the connection do to some evening work and I'm only here temporarily on a contract so I cannot get my own connection.

Thanks.

Ummm, no. No one is going to help you. You could easily get a small hotspot connection for your internet usage and not steal some poor cafe's that blocked you, and try to bypass that. You could go talk to them and ask them to unban you, but they you would have to admit you're using the signal not from the cafe and after hours, and I assume you don't want to do that because you kind of know it's wrong in the first place.

If you are away for work doing contracts, then they should pay for you to get a hotspot internet connection, or you should be able to shell out $50 for a dongle and $20 for a plan for a month or something.
