Hi I was thinking of buying i7 4820K with 32 GB Kingston HyperX Beast 2400 MHz RAM, with Asus P9X79 motherboard. Motherboad supports 2400 MHz (OC) but the processor only supports 1866 MHz. My questions are:

1) If I use it as these as they are, by default, will there be a problem? Am I correct in assuming that it will run at default 1866 MHz?

2) If I want to run it at 2400 MHz, I understand that I need to do it through BIOS. The motherboard will allow the OC but will processor work at the speed?

3) If (2) is possible and If I OC the memory to 2400 MHz, what precaution will I have to take?

4) Can I OC the processor as well from 3.7 GHz to say 4 GHz?

Thanks
OJ

Solution
the ram will run at 2400 as soon as you enable xmp in the bios, it will not void the warranty, and if you want to run it slower, you just have to change the speed :)

Please pardon me for basic questions, not an expert :)

I would need to manually increase the CPU/Motherboard to 2400 MHz through BIOS, am I right?

Also if I DO NOT want to run it at that speed, I don't have to do anything, and it will run at 1866 MHz?

I was asking about the warranty of CPU, since I am running it more than 1866 MHz?
