Your mobo - http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M2AVM/specifications/ - has 10 usb ports. Don't use the USB hub - you're overloading the USB controller.

The problem is i need the hub because my tower is in a cabinet so i use the hub to have usb ports on my desk so my wireless keyboard and mouse get signal. Is there anyway i can disable other ports so I am not overloading? I also have a usb card installed with 5 more ports with it help if I take that out I am not using it anyway.

Don't add hubs to usb's. Put your mouse receiver in a front port. Put other usb's through the back of your pc - where the power cord is going.

I only have 2 front ports and if i use them for my mouse and keyboard I will have none left to plug in a usb memory stick. The cabinet has a door in front so i only get signal for my mouse and keyboard with a hub. Will removing the usb card help at all? or is a usb splitter cord a better option then a hub?
