First off, I am not sure what forums this belongs in, but I figured this is a good start and it can be moved if need be.

I switched from a cable provider (charter) to Uverse a while ago. Based on where I wanted TVs and my office to be set up for the modem, the tech had to use the existing coaxial cables instead of the phone lines they typically use, which was fine by me. Well, we are reorganizing our bedroom where our second TV/DVR and I need to move the coaxial connector. In my attic access, right by the opening, I found two coax cables connected through a coupler. I figured I would add a splitter there and then run another coax cable to my new location.

As soon as I disconnect the cables, both TV and internet go down. Once I add in the splitter, neither work. I've tried it running both ways, and still no dice. Basically, I've flipped it so both cables get a shot at being in and out of the splitter and nothing. I wouldn't be surprised if I saw degraded service, but for it to not work at all was pretty interesting.

Is there something specific with uverse or this setup that I'm not considering? Any help appreciated.
Thanks, BPB
