Upgrading a P7P55D for SATA 2

I just bought a new Samsung SSD 850 Pro. It's working great, but my P7P55D LGA 1156 doesn't support 6 gigs, so it only runs at 3 gigs.

I'm thinking of replacing the motherboard. I'm running a cheap Radeon graphics card, which is sufficient for my non-gaming needs.

It's older technology, but I've thought about just getting a ASUS P7P55D-E - LGA 1156 off of Amazon. Hopefully it will be plug compatible with my current boards. I hate to buy tech that is so old, but I'm not capable of spec-ing out something more modern.

I'd like to keep my i5-750 and Muskin RAM, but, if someone can suggest a more modern board, CPU and RAM, I might step up to them. My current setup is adequately fast,

Any suggestions on a replacement board that supports the faster SATA?

A slightly off-topic answer: I am delighted with the performance of my current machine, which only has SATA II ports for my SSD. You get the most bang for the buck just getting an ssd.

Hi, WK,

I'm not sure what you're saying.

Thanks for your post. However, you might want to re-read my original post. I did just get an SSD, but want the full 6 gig throughput that SATA II gives.

That's why I said it was slightly off-topic!

I don't have enough knowledge of the mobos to give you a good suggestion. I do know about your current mobo, since I am running one of those. My second; parts of the first were fried by lightning. ASUS is always a good choice in my humble book.
