hello experts,

i have a dual core e5400 2.7Ghz, 4 gb of ram and a gtx 460 se gpu card.
if i change my processor to a core 2 quad, will fps change? or somewhat improve on gaming?

Solution
If you can even find a Core 2 E8400 or E8500 that could be better. The Core 2 Quad is not a true Quad Core CPU. yeah it does have 4 cores but on two dies making it a MCP. Almost any Core 2 Quad will overheat when you bump up the frequency to a decent overclock. Even at Stock My older Q6600 used to hit over 50°C on idle@Stock. Not going to get into the particulars, but it happens. So if you can get a Q9400 or Q6600 as They are a bit more refined and should be easier to find than a Q9650 or QX6850. I still say get the E8400, most games it will outperform the Q6600. And these CPUs are overclockable

But really to get a gooc LGA775 Core 2 Quad may prove to be a task in itself. Do you alreaady have the gtx 460 if not get it for cheap or a better newer one then upgrade the rest later The COre 2 CPUs can still play games very well today, the ones to look for would be a Q6600 as they are common , or Q9xx0 series. So Q9400 for example or QX9650.. but The Chipsets and CPU architecture is quite dates now so if you want the best experience consider getting a new PC. The on
