So I just got the Sims 2 Ultimate collection for free,and heard it has something called "secuROM" in it. I know it's used to protect from dvd or disc copying, and other privacy reasons, but what I want to know is will it prevent me from downloading the game onto another computer?

its DRM/copy protection. if your seeing it on a legit disk, it possibly means your antivirus is likely blocking a feature causing securom to trip stoping the rest of the game loading. f.e.a.r. gaave me this issue even when the original disk was left in the drive. (securom relies on the original disk for haschecks. if it doesnt find them or reads the wrong number the copy protection kicks in and stops the game working)
if the disk isnt legit it means who ever made it didnt know what was needed to bypass it. which is a skill set in itself.

SecuROM was built into the original release. When they decided to give it away for free, they just didn't bother to spend the time to take it out.

Are you seeing any issues or error messages pointing to secuROM? As far as I know, its phased out in favor of digital distribution which is its own, better form of DRM. I don't think you'd have any issue installing the game on other machines, but you have to be logged into your Origin account on that machine (to the exclusion of any others) to play it.
If you're asking because you want to install it for a friend/relative, the best way to do it would be to just have them claim it on their own Origin account while its free (if its still free, I have no idea).
