Ok I completed my first build about 2 months ago and was going through to make sure all the drivers were up to date on the mobo which is an ASRock Z97 Extreme4.

I am not seeing a utility that makes it easy to see what drivers you have and which need to be updated. I am going to guess the only way to tell is through device manager?

Also, I uninstalled the old version of Intel Rapid Storage utility with the control panel but did not run a registry cleaner before installing the newer version. I am guessing that is ok

I think the only other thing that needs to be updated is Windows SATA Floppy Image. I seem to recall when i first installed this the only way to get it to run was to put on an external harddrive, but I do not recall what I did to get it to actually install before.. I might already have the correct version though. How do I check? How do I install? Do I need to update even?

Solution
for my asrock all installed was the intel chipset driver lan driver audio driver as far as for the board
the reat of the stuff never made it

Intel Rapid Storage utility ?? don't need it windows should cover what it does
and it may cause conflict

Windows SATA Floppy Image. floppy?? is this the 90's

just about most things are not needed unless something comes up for that like this board has a secondary sata controller no need to install its drivers windows will pick it up and work fine and that makes one less program or driver that may cause a conflict or issue in some way

all that rapid /fast stuff that asrock added to boost stuff never made it on here

as for me if its not needed I don't install it less...

also there should be a intel update manager that I think comes in the chipset driver you can have it check on them updates

cool i kind of thought the same. The SATA Floppy driver if I recall when i looked it up the first time has the name floppy in it but isnt actually anything to do with a floppy driver. It is some driver that involves SATA and windows.. if I also recall it actually changed how CPUID read my mobo drivers.. weird..

yea I bet i do not need any of it

thanks
