Have an old but still serviceable Dell, but slowing down as you would expect; want to add an additional 1GB plug and play chip. Which manufacturer/Model no. would be compatible?
Go to www.crucial.com and run their scanner, it will tell you. For a 3 gig P4 it will likely be DDR400 but maybe DDR2-4200 RAM as some P4s had DDR2 instead of DDR1 RAM.

If your computer already has 3GB RAM (if that is what you wanted to say in the subject), adding 1GB more won't change a lot, if anything.
3 Ghz is the speed of the CPU, unless he really goofed in writing the post. x and z are next to each other. And it's probably safe to say 1MB RAM is really 1GB RAM.
