Strange FPS dips with a random BSOD

I noticed when playing BF4, my FPS would randomly drop all the way down to 50 and even 30 sometimes and stay there for about 5-10 seconds, and then go back to normal. I then had a random BSOD a few days ago with a big code that read 0x00000124. First time I have ever seen that in the 6 months that I have owned my computer. I am not sure if it's my memory going bad or my CPU. I did have my CPU oc'ed only to 4.2 and I took that off to see if it would make a difference, and it hasn't.

asrock extreme9 x79 4960x CPU @ stock now
2133mhz 4x4 16gb dominator platinum
1500w EVGA supernova psu
780ti SLI

If it could be a memory issue, I have two 4gb ripjaw sticks sitting around my house. Would I be able to take out the ram i have now, and install the two 4gb ripjaw models in the dimm slots, or would I have to need more?

No, the BIOS consist of all the primary interconnections of the mobos and howthe basics of add on components play in (BIOS Basic Input Output System), then when all are together you install drivers to fine tune the interactions

figured out it was an unstable overclock. in less than 30minutes on prime95 my comp bsod'ed when my cpu was at 4.2ghz and the official bug code read 0x00000101. Still getting that weird fps issue though. i singled out the gpus and they worked fine when singular. i guess its when they're in SLI mode it does that weird fps dip. I re-installed bf4 on my other hdd, and changed a few setting sin nvidia control panel for bf4, so I am going to see how that works out. My gpu temps are 75-82 respectively. my cpu hits 60-62 at max temp, but normally hangs around 55-58c when gaming. I took off the overclock for now btw.

There is a current BIOS update as of March, 2014. Not sure if I should DL it, but the description says it updates the CPU code, and modifies DRAM modules. You tink this could be the issue? I don't want to update if I don't have to only because they say things can go wrong while updating. So it worries me a little.
