PSU Vibration/sound after being up for longer than a day.

I've recently built this computer, using a brand new Corsair CX600 Watt PSU. After having left the computer on all night, I awoke to it making a somewhat subtle grinding type sound; not too loud at all, but when I got in my seat I could definitely feel the vibration from it at my feet.

In addition I noticed it only occurs after longer than usual uptimes. Say it's been on all day.

It is a bottom-mounted psu, not sure if that matters, but I feel like it might since I originally had it straight on my carpet until it felt like it was running a little warm. It's now on a nice piece of laminate from my old desk.

I'd rather not ship it back, as I'll be needing it for work at the moment. Any ideas?

I have the CX430 and it did the fan running at full speed thing for a while then it quieted down. I still believe that it is an initial getting fluid/grease everywhere thing. A grinding noise is just fan issues so there is no issues with using the power supply in the meantime. My CX430 quieted down after 2 weeks of the fan running at full speed randomly and the warranty is 3 years so you can send it back at any time in the future.

Thanks, that makes me feel a bit better.

It could be the fan, but it could also be something on the inside of the PSU (the PSU I'm using makes a grinding noise when I put a bit of load on it, I know it's not the fan and I hate the sound of it so I ordered a new, better quality one.) You should send it in if it bothers you, or sounds suspicious. The CX series are very poorly made and are known to make a lot of different weird noises, so you aren't alone.

I personally think you should try returning it and get a better quality PSU. :)
